VERTICAL RACE - April 6, 2024
We have created a new event to raise money for the West Kelowna Trail Crew and help restore the trails that were destroyed in the 2023 McDougall Creek wildfire.
$25 of every entry fee goes directly to the WKTC and this event will temporarily replace Nimble Bear until Rose Valley Regional Park reopens and is safe for us to host again. We are tentatively planning the next Nimble Bear 25km/50km race date for April 19, 2025. Vert Till ya Hurt has a really fun and unique race format and offers participants two race formats to choose from: 1. 16km / 530m at Smith Creek. 2. 37km / 1850m at Smith Creek, Goat's Peak and Mount Boucherie. Participants drive to Goat's Peak and Mount Boucherie. Each trail location is marked, timed and will have volunteers and medics. Drive time is not recorded. The 37km is a great opportunity to gather your friends, load up your car and pack your to-go cooler with your favourite snacks. Only your time on course is recorded. |
The wrap up party takes place at Red Bird Brewing where runners can cash in their beer ticket and 37km finishers will pick up their finishers medal. Finishers of the 16km options will receive their finishers medal at the finish line at Smith Creek.
We hope you'll consider joining us for a challenging day of vertical, stunning views, fundraising and a finish line pint!

37KM RECORDING
- Runners must complete each peak following the course marking.
- Runners will receive a "peak pass" in their race package that must be signed/veriftied by our volunteer timing team at each peak.
- Only the trail segments are recorded. Drive time is not a factor. Please drive responsibly and safe.
- Runners must hand in their peak pass at the finish party the evening of April 6th.
- Only the top 3 finishers of the 37km will be asked to submit GPX date to verify results. We trust everyone to be fair and NOT cut corners, as this may affect our ability to receive future permits. Thank you.

Vert Till Ya Hurt Race Rules
Smith Creek is a MTB designated area and therefore we want to emphasis a few key rules to follow. Please ensure you read the full race rules here.
- Public use should not be negatively impacted.
- No cutting corners. Short cutting also puts at risk the ability of PACE hosting future races on Crown Land.
- Crews are not allowed to take motor vehicles to areas designated as off-limits. All of the trails in VTYH are non-motorized.
- Headphones are not permitted.
- After Smith Creek, runners must perform their repeats in the following order: 2 repeats at Goat's Peak and then 2 repeats at Mount Boucherie. If a runner performs the repeats in the reverse order, they will be disqualified.
