Name: Sam Pridham
How long have you been running with PACE? How long have you been a leader with PACE? Been running with PACE as an athlete since the summer clinic of 2019. 2022 is year 1 for me as a leader.
What are some of your hobbies outside of running? Cycling, golfing (although much less these days than years ago), and getting outdoors and spending time with my fam. Any outdoor activities, count me in!
Describe PACE or what it means to you in 1-2 sentences It is such a good feeling to meet for group runs and see so many people who appreciate being part of an amazing community. Until joining PACE, I have never been part of a community that immediately makes you feel so welcome. Zero judgement, just endless support. That says so much and went such a long way for me. The whole PACE family is second to none.
What has been your favourite trail or place to run in the whole wide world? Squamish has been my favourite spot so far, but I am looking forward to expanding my horizons in the next couple years. Dream big and ALWAYS say yes to that next adventure.
What is your go-to fuel on long runs? Nuun endurance and solid foods of all sorts. My fav might be burritos…they pack well and are fairly tidy.
Funny running, racing or training moment: Funniest moment I can think of was in the Wandering Moose 11k in 2021. No more than 3 minutes into the race, about half a dozen racers lost the trail. So, there we were all looking to see where to go next and kind of hoping someone might find the trail again (we eventually spotted it). Funny moment for sure to be there and to see a bunch of racers completely at a standstill DURING a race.
Number one tip for beginners: I believe that consistency with your training goes such a long way to be successful long term in endurance sports like running and many others. If weather looks less than ideal, adjust your kit and head on out there. NO EXCUSES. Some of my most memorable runs have been in challenging conditions. My runner up tip would be to keep your EASY PACED DAYS EASY. Your body will appreciate you all the more for it.
Is there anything else you'd like the PACE Community to know about you? I have 2 Chihuahuas names Winston and Georgie. You WILL hear stories about them on the trails, apologies in advance.
