VIRTUAL STAGE RACE - APRIL 2023
The R135 challenges runners to run the length of Okanagan Lake or 135k, with a minimum of 5,000m elevation gain over 6 consecutive days.
Participants must run to hit the target of 135km & 5,000m. This would require a minimum of 22.5km & 834m per day, for 6 days to complete the challenge. It's a you pick, self motivated, how badly do you want it type of race.
The race will be open for the month of April and participants must complete their race over consecutive or back-to-back days. If you miss a day, you must start over. You can take less than the maximum amount of days allowed to complete the challenge, however not more. We will mail out race swag in April and announce the prize winners after May 1st.
Runners can also use R135 or R70, as part of the Quadzilla challenge in 2023.

Lake History
Okanagan Lake is located in the southern interior of British Columbia and is the largest lake in the Okanagan Valley. There are three major population centres located along the lake's shores: Vernon at the north end, Kelowna at the midpoint and Penticton at the south end.
Length: 135km
Width: 3-5km
Depth: 232m
There have been many theories as to the derivation of the name of Okanagan lake and one is that it means "rendezvous" as the thread of the river at Lake Osoyoos is where First Nations of B.C. and Washington often gathered for an annual Potlatch. We liked how this tied in some of the local culture and history with the race, as well as how rendezvous means to gather, which is the part of our events that we love the most... bringing people together.

Fundraising
In 2012 we adapted this motto: "Running feels good. Giving back feels good. Doing both feels GREAT!" and we have been giving back to charities and trail building associations ever since.
Rendezvous supports FOSS Society who are dedicated to preserving the environmental integrity of the south slopes of Kelowna by constructing and maintaining public facilities, trails and signs in Myra-Bellevue Provincial Park and OK MTN Provincial Park, while promoting minimal impact recreation.
$25 of your race entry goes to supporting trail improvements in OK MTN Provincial Park / FOSS, Friends of the South Slopes Non-Profit Organization which is also home of the Wild Horse Traverse 52km. This park is rugged, wild and hard to access, making trail maintenance very difficult. $25 of each entry goes into keeping these trails safe and accessible for years to come.
Runners have the option to raise additional funds and go after the prize for "top fundraiser". To do so, simply donate directly through the FOSS Society and send us a copy of your receipt.

Rules
1. Treadmills are okay - you must provide photo & GPS evidence.
2. Poles are okay (and encouraged!)
3. Please review our prize categories with detail, as there are different ways to qualify.
4. Once your file is uploaded to Strava using GPS you must have access to the desktop version and use the “Correct Elevation” function. This normalizes the over-reporting of vertical seen on most Garmins as well as the under-reporting of vert seen on most Suuntos. Don’t worry about this- everyone will get equally screwed.
5. You must have your GPS files / treadmill photos and all pertinent info uploaded by May 30th at midnight. We encourage you to send in your final results, as you complete it so there are less files for us to review at the end of the month. Please ensure your data is clear and clean, with nothing fishy about it. We won't be following up on data that isn't properly submitted. Thank you for your cooperation.
6. We will announce the winners of each prize category as soon as we have processed the last of the data. This will depend on how much data gets submitted within the last week of June.
