Name: Janine Taylor
How long have you been running with PACE? 6 years (since 2015)
How long have you been working on the PACE Trail Race Series Team? 4 yrs (since 2017)
What are some of your hobbies outside of running? Skiing (both downhill and Nordic), cycling (both road and mountain), climbing (I’m still learning), reading and chasing my kids (that’s a hobby right??)
Describe PACE or what it means to you in 1-2 sentences Community: a group of amazingly supportive and positive humans to connect with in the great outdoors. Fun: the energy and excitement that pervades through pace is catching and the world needs more of it.
What has been your favourite trail or place to run in the whole wide world? It’s a toss-up for me between Switzerland and Revelstoke Nat Park.
What is your go-to fuel on long runs? Perpetuem. Chewing and running is hard.
Funny running, racing or training moment: The time it was so cold that Hayley brought a popsicle for her fuel that day.
Number one tip for beginners: Just do it! It doesn’t have to be fast or pretty or feel amazing to be effective. Consistency is so important, and just getting up and getting out despite the weather, how you feel that day or that nagging voice in your head will help you to build your base and see improvements if you just keep going. Also, be kind to yourself and have fun with this amazing group of people!
