Name: Rene C. Unser
How long have you been running with PACE? How long have you been a leader with PACE? 17 years :)
What are some of your hobbies outside of running? Pottery, cooking, roasting coffee, spending time with family and friends, travel, climbing, biking...
Describe PACE or what it means to you in 1-2 sentences PACE is the foundation of all the things I cherish in life. Community, relationships, giving, gathering, encouragement, love, friendship, health, support, fun, acceptance, memories, nature, adventure, gratitude. I have such deep gratitude for the people and experiences that PACE has brought into my life.
What has been your favourite trail or place to run in the whole wide world? The European Alps and Italian Dolomites.
What is your go-to fuel on long runs? Hammer Nutrition Perpetuem and gels. Salami and potato chips :)
Funny running, racing or training moment: Peeing in stinging nettle during a stage of the Transalpine Run. That sure got me going... burn baby burn! lol
Number one tip for beginners: Focus on consistency and making smaller more gradual progressions in your training and make sure to honour the power of rest.
Is there anything else you'd like the PACE Community to know about you? One of my favourite quotes: "Believe you can and you're half way there"...
