Since a young age, Rene knew she wanted a career in athletics & fitness and she felt a strong connection to help others. At age 17 she started her journey into the fitness industry and quickly became a certified fitness instructor, personal trainer and teacher of fitness teachers through BCRPA. At the age of 29, she started her own company, P.A.C.E. Sports Fitness, (in 2005) where she combined coaching outdoor pursuits with her love of fitness. Rene obtained her level III coaching certification through the NCCP, along with her skills and tactics training in cycling and a long list of other coaching/fitness courses that continued to expand her existing certifications and more importantly, her passion to help others.

With the growth of P.A.C.E.'s trail running clinics, coaching services, expanding the P.A.C.E. trail race series and addition of coaching mountain running camps, Rene retired after a very successful career in the fitness industry for over 20 yrs to peruse her coaching career 100%, under her home based company, P.A.C.E. What does 2018 have in store for Rene?
Challenging herself in new ways, Rene is taking on some exciting new goals this year and getting back on the saddle again, so-to-speak. Her husband is an avid cyclist and his years of dedication and Rene watching him accomplish some tough races has inspired her to join him. So, she will be taking on her first gravel road cycling race in Washington on May 6th and a 6 day mountain bike stage race, called the Singetrack 6 in late July. Her cycling season will wrap up celebrating her husbands birthday with a road riding trip to Europe the week before the Gore-Tex Transalpine Run in September. Balancing the training between cycling and running will be a fun challenge for her, as she is also running the Knee Knacker 50k in mid-July. Luckily, her clients, clinics, camps and races keep her inspired and keep her run miles up :) Whether she runs the Gore-Tex Transalpine run for the 8th year in a row is still a toss up. Some things need time to unfold and while Rene may not be quite able to give up the thought of running her favourite race in the whole wide world, just yet - with a full schedule of other fun challenges set, she is happily going to play it by ear!
