VIRTUAL VERTICAL RACE - July 2021

PACE HIGH-5 challenges runners to run an ascent of a minimum of 5,000m elevation gain over a maximum of 7 consecutive days. The race will be open for the month of July and participants have up to 7 days to accomplish 5.000m within the month, however the days must be consecutive, or back-to-back. If you miss a day, you must start over.  You can take less than 7 days to complete the challenge, however not more than 7. We will mail out race swag within a week of participants completing the challenge and announce the prize winners on August 1st.

Why Join PACE High-5?

1. Because ascending 5000m in only 7 days (or sooner, if you choose) will challenge you!
2.You can be creative! Showcase your local community or hit the hills! If you don't have access to the MTN's, jump on a treadmill or find some local stairs.
3. We have some really fun categories and valuable prizes. (registration is limited to 150 spots)
4. This race also supports CMHA (Canadian Mental Health Association).

Fundraising

in 2012 we adapted this motto: "Running feels good. Giving back feels good. Doing both feels GREAT!" and we have been giving back to charities and trail building associations ever since.  Each race in our series donates a portion of the entry fees to local charity, as well we host 2-3 runs per year which focus 100% of the fundraising on charity and brings people together in a special way to share adventure and the passion to make a difference. To day, PACE Trail Runs has helped raise over $84,600.

PACE High Five support the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA). CMHA facilitates access to the resources people require to maintain and improve mental health and community integration, build resilience, and support recovery from mental illness. As runners, we know how important it is to connect with nature, get outside and blaze the trails to help support our own mental health. By participating in PACE High Five, participants have the opportunity to celebrate the gift of running and give back to those in need.

There is a minimum $50 fundraising component to each entry. Along with accomplishing the vertical challenge, participants are required to raise a minimum of $50 to earn their finishers medal.  All fundraising efforts are deeply appreciated and for fun, we have created a prize category for the individual who raises the most!

1. Donate the amount personally, or fundraise and make a one time donation under your name through the CMHA Kelowna website.
2. Please send proof of your donation to hannahpacetrailruns@gmail.com for recording purposes.

PACE High 5 Race Rules

1. Treadmills are okay - you must provide photo & GPS evidence.

2. Poles are okay (and encouraged!)

3. Please review our prize categories with detail, as there are different ways to qualify.

4. Once your file is uploaded to Strava using GPS you must have access to the desktop version and use the “Correct Elevation” function. This normalizes the over-reporting of vertical seen on most Garmins as well as the under-reporting of vert seen on most Suuntos. Don’t worry about this- everyone will get equally screwed.

5. You must have your GPS files / treadmill photos and all pertinent info uploaded by July 31st at midnight. We encourage you to send in your final results, as you complete it so there are less files for us to review at the end of the month. Please ensure your data is clear and clean, with nothing fishy about it. We won't be following up on data that isn't properly submitted. Thank you for your cooperation.

6. We will announce the winners of each prize category as soon as we have processed the last of the data. This will depend on how much data gets submitted within the last week of July.
