2021 UPDATE
Thank you for your patience as we work hard to organize the 2021 race season. We are optimistic and excited about the new year. That said, the process for obtaining permits and planning is quite different due to COVID-19 and takes more time. We have received very promising news to host our events under our new Special Operating Plan (SOP) in 2021. Our SOP is based on COVID-19 safety measures and will be adapted to support any provincial health orders that might be in place by the time our event dates roll around. Safety continues to be our top priority.
I know many of you are eager to "register." We understand how important it is for our mental and physical health to have something to look forward to and how good it feels to plan and have some races "locked in." We want to gather and kick off the race season in 2021 as much as you do! Right now, however, we're asking for your continued patience, as there is still a lot of behind the scenes work that has to be set up before we can send registration invitations out to everyone. We are working on breaking down communications per event and sending all racers emails, explaining updated options and information on or before January 15th.
We know you're going to have a lot of questions. Please HOLD OFF on emailing us until we send our communications on or before January 15th, which will hopefully answer the majority of your questions. We will be sure to post any updates to this page, however as they unfold. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
In the meantime, we know people are trying to plan for next year, so we wanted to communicate our tentative plan for 2021 and updated rollover options. We have changed our policy so that anyone who was registered for a 2020 event will have the choice to rollover the deferral policies into 2021, 2022 or 2023. Should COVID-19 restrict us from hosting any of our regular events in 2021, we will rollover deferrals into 2022 or 2023.

2021 Tentative Race Plan (to be updated or confirmed on or before Jan 15th)
Nimble Bear 50k/25k/12k
September 25th - following our new SOP and COVID-19 safety protocols.
Wild Horse Traverse - Postponed until 2022.
WHT is a remote point to point race that traversing through remote and rugged terrain in OK Mountain Provincial Park, regular annual trail maintenance is mandatory in order to keep our racers safe and receive our event permissions and permits. With the Provincial Park closures around COVID-19 and high fire risks in the park in 2020, trail maintenance was not approved or completed. This has resulted in the trail becoming increasingly overgrown, which limits our access and poses a safety risk for runners. We will be focusing on trail clearing and maintenance in 2021 and bring the Wild Horse back better than ever in 2022.

2021 Race Update. New website with full race details coming soon!
We wanted to reach out to everyone with an update as we continue to move through these challenging times around COVID.
First and foremost, we hope everyone is staying safe and healthy.
As we plan for the 2021 race season, unfortunately we have just as much uncertainty as we had 6 months ago. The BC Health Officer has ordered a restriction of 50 people for events, which currently remains in place. In the interim, while we wait for this Provincial Order to be modified, we continue to work diligently on approvals available to us and will update of any progress as we go.
Please be patient with us as we haven’t given up! The PACE team has been working hard to adapt and find new ways to be there for the running community and to try and keep our business open until we can get back to 100% capacity again.
Over the next few weeks we will be announcing our strategy for our race series, mountain running camps, clinics and *new* online merchandise store. So check back soon!
We have poured our hearts into the community and tried to keep PACErs connected, engaged, motivated and supported in new ways this year. We offered 5 free virtual races to any of our registered races & mailed out T-shirts and handmade finishers medals this year. We also adapted our clinic series to a partial virtual platform which was welcomed with open arms and has been a steady heartbeat for us this year.
We know these adaptions don’t replace the real deal, however, we want to thank you all for the support, kindness and cooperation we have received along the way. We know we can get through this together.
We also know everyone has made sacrifices this year and that we are not the only ones struggling to stay employed. We want to express how deeply grateful we are for all of your support and although 2021 may look different...we are bringing the same strong values, work ethic, positive attitude and appreciation to the PACE scene that we always have. ❤️
Hugs,
PACE Team xo
